Hey there, I'm the new kid on the blog block!

wedding photographer

Hello there! Karen here,

And so the Journey Begins

Today marks the beginning of something new for me with introducing myself to the world of blogging!!!! After carrying out website and social media training over the past few weeks, bringing a face & voice to my wedding photography posts seems to be the way to go.

If you follow me on Instagram your probably already familiar with my face and my poor families with my penchant for over sharing life lol!!!!

So, over the next few weeks & months, I'll be bringing (my sometimes illiterate so bear with me ) ideas and stories from the world of Irish weddings from a Northern Ireland wedding photographers view point. As someone who has often found comfort in reading, I hope that those wedding planning can find the same from my thoughts, ideas, and experiences. Whether you're reading this as a friend, a stranger, or someone who just stumbled across my corner of the internet, welcome!

To kick things off, let me introduce myself a bit. I'm Karen an Irish wedding photographer and curious soul (some(alot) would say nosey bint lol!!!) with a penchant for capturing moments that whisper tales of time & emotions.

I love breezing into a brides home on the wedding morning, and being stuck in the middle of the buzz and excitement building for the wedding day ahead. I honestly never take for granted , the privilege of being involved in these oh so precious wedding days!!!

I'm 42 yrs old, from the beautiful Rostrevor but we live in the almost as beautiful Hilltown. I'm wife of Ryan , Mum of Tori & Lexie , and step-mum to Jessica & Emily. No doubt there'll be tales of this gang mixed in with work stories along the way, giving an actual insight into the busy life of a supposedly full time entrepreneur but definitely full time taxi driver to Tori & Lexie.

I LOVE travelling whether that's a trip to find the sun abroad that rarely decides to shine on our emerald isle, or a road trip around our even in the rain beautiful little land, some would say I'm rarely in the house lol!!! But life's for living surely!!!!!

I also love to drag friends into the mourne mountains under the pretense that its just a quick walk, and on that note I need to add get back to hikes to my winter resolutions list AGAIN!!!!!

Why Start a wedding Blog?

Starting a blog has been on my mind for years, probably since beginning Essence Photography over 14 yrs ago, but everyday life and excuses always got in the way. I always have a hundred ideas on the go at the same time and now (hopefully) is the time to get stuck in, with realising that waiting for the perfect moment or the perfect words will have me sitting in another 10 yrs still not started. So no time like the present and all that......

My Blogging Goals

I don’t have all the answers, and I’m definitely not an expert , but that’s part of the fun. This blog will be a place for stories and tips from my 14 yrs in the wedding industry and a little look into what the future of the Northern Ireland Wedding industry might look like, along with a few personal bits here and there.

What to Expect from my blog?

As I start this journey, I want to keep things open and flexible. I have a few ideas bubbling away—personal stories, advice pieces, maybe even a series or two—but I’m not going to pin myself down to a set schedule, because anyone who knows me knows I'll have a great plan then I'll be away off on a tangent so I'll see what every week brings and it'll be as much as a surprise to you as it will me some weeks.

Final Thoughts

Thank you for joining me on this journey. I’m looking forward to seeing where this wedding blog goes and hope you’ll stick around for the ride! If you’ve got any ideas of stories or topics you'd like to hear about, feedback, or just want to say hello, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Here’s to new beginnings and to finally starting that blog!

Let the blogging begin!

Karen
